Is the deposit refundable or transferable?
No. The $100 deposit is nonrefundable and nontransferable. It is applied toward the puppy’s purchase price and reserves the specific named puppy or the guaranteed sex written in the deposit agreement.
What type of AKC registration do puppies receive?
Most puppies are placed on Limited AKC registration, meaning they are sold as companions and are not sold with breeding rights. Full AKC registration may be considered for approved breeding homes only.
Is there a health guarantee?
Yes. Puppies are sold with a written health guarantee covering fatal hereditary disease for one year, subject to the terms and requirements of the sales contract.
Does my puppy need to see a veterinarian after going home?
Yes. The contract requires the puppy to be examined by a licensed veterinarian within seven calendar days after pickup or delivery. If the puppy becomes ill or injured before that appointment, the buyer must obtain appropriate veterinary care without waiting for the deadline.
What happens if I can no longer keep my dog?
Goldhain Legacy German Shepherds must be contacted first. The contract includes a first-right-of-refusal and return provision so our dogs are not simply passed along without our knowledge.
Can I surrender the dog to a shelter or rescue?
The contract contains requirements regarding return and rehoming. Families must contact Goldhain Legacy German Shepherds before making other placement arrangements.
When should a Limited AKC puppy be spayed or neutered?
The German Shepherd contract calls for spay or neuter between approximately 12 and 24 months, according to the terms of the signed contract.
Are there refunds?
The contract does not provide cash refunds as the standard remedy. Any health-related remedy is handled according to the written health guarantee and sales contract.
What happens if I leave my puppy with the breeder past the agreed go-home period?
Boarding fees may apply according to the contract if a puppy remains past the agreed pickup timeframe.
Can we visit the puppies?
Visits are arranged in advance and depend on puppy age, vaccination stage, and the health of the litter. Contact us so we can discuss the safest appropriate time.
Where is pickup?
Puppy pickup is coordinated in Orient, Ohio. Details and timing are arranged individually with each family before go-home day.
How do you match puppies with families?
We consider temperament, energy, confidence, household needs, experience, and the family’s goals. Color and pick order are not the only factors in a successful match.
What health testing do the parents have?
Completed testing is organized on our Health Testing page. We are happy to discuss results and share available documentation with serious prospective families. View health testing.
What does my puppy go home with?
Puppies leave with a veterinary exam, age-appropriate vaccines and deworming, microchip, registration paperwork, personality evaluation, care guide, Trupanion offer, goodie bag, contract, and health guarantee.
Do you offer lifelong support?
Yes. We want families to stay in touch, and we welcome updates and questions throughout the dog’s life.
